Blurb:  Titan was one of the nation’s most loved and respected Heroes, until an infidelity scandal tore his image and family apart. After decades spent out of the limelight, Owen Daniels has decided to take up the mantle of Titan once again to try and make amends for his years away. Unfortunately, the Titan Scandal is still common knowledge, and no Hero team wants such a polarizing figure. With no other options, Owen is forced to take a job overseeing a group of corpies, corporate-sponsored Supers who do rescue work… as long as there are cameras around.

Between a team that doesn’t want him, fellow Heroes who don’t trust him, and a nation that might not be ready to forgive the sins of the past, the return of Titan could prove even harder than the scandal that drove him away. But Owen will have to push on, because his new city is far from a peaceful one. A mysterious enemy is attacking Heroes and growing steadily stronger. An enemy that only the once-legendary Titan might be able to stop.

If he can manage to stick around this time.

Thoughts:  After reading Super Powereds Year 2 and finding out about Hershel and Roy’s father, Titan, I was curious how this book would go. I read a lot of MM romance and other LGBTQIA fiction. Having a gay character in a book not targeted at a particular audience was pretty cool . This book is part of a super hero series. This particular story is about a hero who happens to be gay.
The characters, both heroes and supers, are battling villains, giant robots and dealing with prejudices from people without super hero abilities as well as other supers, heroes and powereds. You would think all people with “super” abilities would support one another, but this is not the case, as it often is in real life. The prejudice also touches on how people react to a gay hero.  It touches on how people sometimes behave towards others that are different from themselves.
I enjoyed finding out more about Titan’s character, what drove him to the choices he made, how others reacted and what has changed now that he has re-entered the hero world again. The story is fun, fast paced, has an awesome cast of characters and I have to say Hexcellent is one of my all time favorite characters.
I listened to the audiobook and I love the narration. Kyle McCarley does a wonderful job
A wonderful spinoff to the Super Powereds series.

Welcome to my new home

Some of you may know me from Books, Coffee and Captured Moments.  It was my first blog and encompassed many of the things I love.  After three years, I decided it was time for a change.  All of the book related posts have been moved here to
The Bookish Blue Dragon.  This includes the categories Books and Reviews, MM Holiday Delights and Dianne’s Throwback Thursday – Book Style.  I also brought over the MM Holiday Delights Reading lists from 2014-2016.

This is a LGBTQIA friendly site.  Most of the books I read and review are in the MM genre, but not exclusively.   Most of the books I read also contain adult content, so the site is for 18 years of age and older.  My tastes in books runs from contemporary to historical, you will also find Scifi, paranormal, fantasy, mystery, suspense, sports themes and holiday themes.  Some may be dark and gritty and the next book may be light and sweet.  Most of all I love stories with a bit of romance and always a happy ending.

Please take a moment to look around.  Maybe you will find something new or run across one of your old favorites.  I look forward to hearing about your favorite books too.

Thanks for stopping by,

Mark Hansen thought working as an artist’s assistant would be glamorous, especially if that artist was a vampire. Black tie events, witty repartee, gracing the pages of the local style section…. Didn’t happen. Not even once.

Jonathan Varga is an enigma. True, he’s quiet, generous, and scrupulously polite. But he has zero social life, refuses to be interviewed or photographed, and insists he can only consume feline blood.

Why supermarket blood won’t suffice, Mark hasn’t asked. He’s rarely at a loss for words—he can dish an insult and follow it with a snap as quick as you can say “Miss Thang.” But one look at Jonathan’s black-as-sin gypsy eyes, and Mark’s objections drain away.

So he endures the perpetual grind of their routine: Jonathan hiding in his studio, swiping black paint onto black canvases. Mark hurling insults while he buffs the office to a shine with antiviral wipes. Each of them avoiding the other in a careful choreography…until a blurb in Art in America unleashes a chain of harrowing events.

As secrets from Jonathan’s past are brought to light, it becomes clear that all his precautions weren’t nearly enough.

Second expanded edition includes bonus novelette Sweet

Review:  LYLBTB 50 star
When I read the first edition I loved the fresh take on vampirism. The new virus, Human Hemovore Virus (HHR) Is the latest life threatening and life altering virus to plague humankind. It has changed how people interact even more than the HIV virus has.
“Safe sex. As if. No sex with a vampire was safe sex. You couldn’t even dry-kiss without someday finding yourself on the long road to a permanent liquid diet…if you even survived all three hideous stages of the disease, which a majority of the people who contracted it did not.”

I enjoyed the authors exploration of what life living with the virus is like for V-positives and what it is like for V-negatives and how this affects all interactions between people in this new age. The main characters, Mark and Jonathan, a v-negative man working for a v-positive artist illustrate the complexities for both. That said, this story is also about romance, relationships, mystery, intrigue, murder and dealing with life’s obstacles. It has humor, love and a grittiness that I adore in Jordan Castillo Price’s storytelling. I loved every moment!

This edition includes a novelette titled Sweet. I absolutely adored this story. It is a wonderful look into the lives of the main characters after the end of Hemovore. I am afraid to say anything for fear of giving something away, except that it is sweet, I did tear up a bit and thought it was perfect.
Review copy provided by author for honest review. I have the first edition in my library and I was eager to read this new edition which included an exclusive novella, so I requested a book for an honest review.
