Welcome to part 3 of the February 2017 Books and Reviews.
Today’s set of books starts with a sweet romance.
Loveland, Colorado is a special place all year around, a community of creativity and art, with scenic views and majestic mountains. But the town really shines once a year, on Valentine’s Day.
Lucky Roberts has lived in Loveland his whole life. He has good friends, strong family support, and is all about keeping his community fun and alive. The only thing Lucky has been “unlucky” with is love. But rather than avoiding February fourteenth in his hometown, he throws himself into helping others deliver their messages of love.
Enter Jack Canon. Jack moved to Loveland for a fresh start, in both his personal and professional lives. After a tough year, he’s finally hoping to just blend in, maybe carve a little niche for himself that his parents would have been proud of. What he didn’t expect was a pseudo-lumberjack with a killer body and shy smile to turn his world upside down – and he sure didn’t expect to like it so much.
When Lucky meets Jack, he feels like a thirteen year-old with his first crush. He’s clumsy, stammering, and the first greeting out of his mouth is a less than articulate, “Wow!” Words like adorable and manbun suddenly become part of his vocabulary as he discovers a deep, hidden need to romance the hell out of Jack.
And what better way to do that than during the most romantic season in the City of Love?
This is a very sweet love story. I started reading it on Valentines day not realizing that it was set very much around Valentine’s Day in Loveland, Colorado. Wonderful characters and slow burn romance. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Next up is a contemporary book recommended to me by my favorite enabler Janice. She said I should listen to the audiobooks. She said it was a fun series. She was right. 🙂
Tyler can’t inherit unless he gets married… and when Glen proposes, hijinks ensue. Follow the guys on their world-spanning adventure as they defeat mobsters, an evil step-mother, a rakish brother-in-law and pirates. No, really – pirates! Plus, there’s an underground super-base. And hockey. Come for the romance, stay for the hockey.
This book is filled with adventure. Not just the honeymoon. It is fast paced and filled with larger than life characters leading larger than life…lives. Adventures of the rich and famous. It is fun, over the top, sweet and humorous. Tyler, Glen and Nana are great characters.
I listened to the audio book and I enjoyed the narration but I was distracted by some of the “room sound” changes. It did not stop my listening enjoyment overall. There is a very large cast of characters and the narrator did a wonderful job of differentiating all those voices. Looking forward to listening to the rest of Glen and Tyler’s adventures.
I wish I could remember how I found this next book. I have read many of the stories that the MM Romance Groups has published over the years. The events are a great way to discover new authors. (You may need to be a member of the MM Romance Group to access these titles)
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group’s “Love’s Landscapes” event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
I’m sending this on behalf of my boss of whom the picture depicted. Been working with him a couple of years as his law firm as his secretary replacing a string of female secretaries in just a few months.
He’s not difficult to work for, my boss is. Honestly. I just think my successors expected too much from him… outside of work. I mean, look at his face! Admittedly, even I have a bit of crush on him. But even I had to face the fact that he’s way, waaay out of my reach. Come to think of it, he’s never had any romantic involvement with anybody during the years I’ve worked for him. The only dinner, lunch, or breakfast reservations I have had to make for him were either for work meetings or with his folks. Which reminds me, I have to make one soon for the latter as his folks are coming for a visit the day after tomorrow.
As courteous as he’d been with them, my boss doesn’t really seem close or comfortable with his elders. He gave me a short version of his not-so-happy-happy childhood earlier in my days so that I stopped yapping at him to buy meaningful gifts for them. As kind and quiet my boss is, he can be quite stern when he rebukes me. I find this quite sexy, but please don’t tell him I say so.
So, dinner reservations for three on next Friday evening… Wait, is that a “4” he wrote in my agenda or I need to have my eyes checked? It IS! Does this mean he’d bring a date to meet the ’rents? How did I miss this? I didn’t see him behaving any differently around the office. People who date should’ve shown some symptoms, shouldn’t they? And how come I never known that he’s gotten close with anyone; male or female? I’m with him almost 12 hours a day! Well, at the office, on the phones, etc., etc.
I’ve got to find out more about this!!!
Enjoyable office romance. Light, sweet and sexy.
